" Psychometry" Jóna Rúna Answers Teenager Tim ,,Dear Jóna Rúna, I want to begin to thank you for many interesting things you’ve written about in the past. I’m a kid under twenty years old and I think a lot about life and its purpose. I’m in a good situation in life and have nothing to complain about. But I would really like to ask you to write a little about something that I have myself been experiencing for a while now. I’m probably a little psychic. At least that gift was very strong with me when I was 6-7 years old. I read everything I get my hands on about these matters and enjoy it very much. It was about two years ago when, through shear coincidence, I discovered that I seem to possess one particular talent that I need to get some advice about. This talent is connected with things and the vibes or influences emanating from them. I don’t really know what to call it. All of this started when a friend of mine handed me an object that belonged to his dead cousin. It was a very small golden cross necklace. I was just sitting there having a quiet conversation with my friend and as he himself is rolling the cross around in his palm I suddenly blurt out: “What’ve you got there man? Have you joined some kind of religious cult or something?” Surprisingly, my friend responded by simply handing me the thing. At that very moment I felt suddenly very weak and for a second it felt as if a hood had been drawn over my head and I could see in my mind circumstances completely unknown to me. I was very shocked and naturally my friend asked me what was going on. I then told him that I knew that the cross didn’t belong to him but some other young man. I told him a bunch of other details amongst them that the owner of the cross was most likely dead. My friend was totally shocked by this and confessed to me that everything I had said was correct and that the cross used to belong to his cousin who had committed suicide. Since this happened I’ve done the same thing every now and again, and each time I’ve been correct. As with the first time, I never have any background information about the relevant person beforehand. What is this Jóna Rúna? Do you think this is a talent that could be cultivated? I have to admit that I’m rather excited about this. I think about it a lot and devote quite some time to it. I’m of course still going to school and I have various hobbies but of all those things, this is what interests me the most. It has happened that I see or sense something around pieces of furniture when I visit friends and relatives. Do you think it’s dangerous to think so much about these things? Nobody in my nearest family does, except me. My parents are very much down to earth and have absolutely no interest in such things. I’m rather afraid of the dark. Can you give some good tips about controlling that? Do you think that we continue to exist after death? Where do bad people go? Do you believe in Hell? I’d be seriously disappointed. Best Regards, Tim.” “Dear Tim, Thank you very much for a lovely and rather unusual letter, it’s nice to know that you’ve kept up with my work. Of course I would never throw your or any other person’s letter into the garbage! I only have to ask all of you to show me some patience because there are many letters. I’ll try to answer some of your questions. As most of my readers know, my knowledge comes from my own experience and I also use my intuition and common sense to answer. Your questions are many and they differ from each other but hopefully I can respond to most of them. Psychometry Parapsychologists often call the phenomenon that you have been experiencing psychometry. It’s not a very common phenomenon but certainly very special and usually a gift you are born with, a gift that is not possessed by all psychics though they have other talents. As most people know, no psychic person has exactly the same talent even though they can be similar. This psychic ability is most clearly presented when the psychic either receives an object that he/she can see, such as a pen, necklace, broach or a watch, or when the psychic gets a closed envelope with some message or a photo and then tries to sense what’s inside. Then the psychic must interpret in a logical fashion for the parties involved what he/she is actually sensing. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the same form of psychic sensing that is at work for each person although all such sensory abilities are related. In some cases it could possibly be telepathy where the psychic receives information from the owner of the object rather than from the object itself. What is Really Going On? When such experiments are conducted you have to do your best to ensure that they are done correctly; to make sure that it’s not a case of telepathy where the psychometric person literarily reads certain information (sometimes without realising it himself) from the participant’s mind while holding the object he thinks he’s receiving the information from. There’s also always the possibility of the psychometric person remembering some old information about the participants and accidentally mixing it together with the psychic sensing of the moment. There’s probably nobody that experiences these things in exactly the same manner other than that, which the purpose is, to try to collect information unknown to you before, using the sixth sense. Psychometry Sometimes Useful to the Police It has sometimes occurred that psychometry has been used, deliberately or not, to assist in the unwinding of unsolved crimes or missing person cases. That kind of use of psychometry is very purposeful and must be considered a useful and positive addition to conventional methods in the detection and investigation of crimes and the result can often be surprising. It is a known fact that people that have vanished without a trace and haven’t been heard from in a long time, have been found, be it dead or alive, with the assistance of a psychometric person. There are many documented cases of this kind where the solution was only to be found with the assistance of the sixth sense. Many unsolved murder cases have been cracked in this particular way. The United States have been especially willing to exploit this kind of talent for this purpose, being a country which possesses numerous individuals from many different ethnic backgrounds, that are blessed with such a talent. I especially remember the case of one particular woman whose talent was absolutely remarkable and she gained the respect and admiration of the police force after repeatedly helping them crack difficult cases. Most of us have use of five senses but there are always people that seem to be especially sensitive and open when it comes to the sixth sense. It’s a kind of additional sense that has a strong connection with the mysterious and supernatural in life. Those who possess the sixth sense don’t necessarily need to have the same talents. They have various qualities that differ from each other although all of them are psychic in some way and are therefore independent from the other five senses, except when the psychic person uses those to get the information across to those concerned. Objects Absorb Environmental Influences It has long been debated what actually happens when psychometric people use their talents to receive information and facts about events, circumstances and people. How exactly does the psychic get the information? Parapsychologists have mostly come to the conclusion that it seems to be a fact that objects absorb all kinds of environmental influences over different periods time and some of these influences or vibes seem to stick to dead matter or material. It is as if some kind of electromagnet energy that carries certain amounts of real information, is collected in the objects and sensitive people can sometimes “read” this information and pass it on to those concerned in an understandable way. Telepathy or Psychometry? Of course this kind of information is usually not very explicit or detailed but much rather symbolic. But sometimes the information does come through very clearly so that the psychic can puzzle them together to make a statement that is logical to the person that the object belongs to or had it last in possession. In your case, dear Tim, it does seem as if you are receiving your information through psychometry but there is also the possibility of there being some telepathy going on. This is of course something that can’t be proven but it’s tempting to assume that when you sense things from objects belonging to somebody close to you it could be partly telepathy, that your reading into their minds as well as into the objects involved. It is obvious that your friend did have his dead cousin’s cross in his hands and I’m sure that his cousin, whom he loved and misses, was in his mind as he did. So who is to say where you got your information? Obsessive Thinking Not Good Whether you should cultivate this apparent gift is hard to say. At least I think there’s no reason for you to pretend that there’s nothing going on with you, especially since this is something that could turn out to be quite interesting. But at the same time I’m not sure it’s so good for you to think so much about the paranormal aspects of life because too much emphasis on that part of life can sometimes be unfortunate for the sensitive person, especially if there is some great ambition lying behind the interest. It’s probably best to be moderate when it comes to the mysterious side of life, especially when one is as young as you are sweetheart. It’s best to walk in between all extremes to avoid loosing one’s balance. There’s no need to get over excited about something such as the paranormal that can just as well be registered slowly and carefully. The Necessity of Choosing a Role in Life If you want to nourish your obvious ability later in life I think it’s a good idea that you start by nourishing yourself now as a human being and focus on expanding all that is positive about you. By doing so you will be a more suitable “channel” for the things that are psychic and paranormal in your person. Obviously it is important that you build your own future in the conventional way as well. I recommend that you simply spend as much, if not more time reading your schoolbooks and nurturing all the other hobbies you might have, as you would spend thinking about your psychometric talent. You’re much better off by getting a good, solid education and deciding early on what role you want in your life. You should, as should others, use the privileges that you and most other Icelandic youngsters have and that is to get an education and use it to base a foundation for a future that will bring you happiness and security spiritually and materially. Fear of the Darkness You seek my advice about being afraid of the dark and I tell you this: your fear of the darkness is not necessarily based on the fact that dead people or ghosts are haunting you. Of course it does occur that very earthbound souls of the deceased do bother us with their presence and cause us to fear the dark but it is more rare than one would think. More often than not it is a case of much more “down-to-earth” phenomena that we like to imagine. It is not uncommon that so-called “streams of thoughts”, kind of like clouds that are created by people’s thoughts and experiences, are hovering in houses and places with history and they do sometimes send out various kinds of vibes. Some of these vibes are negative and can therefore cause sensitive people to become afraid of the dark. Under certain circumstances these remains of thoughts and words spoken by people perhaps long ago can mercilessly afflict us. People fight and argue and behave violently assuming that their actions or words will simply vanish into thin air but that is not the case. These streams of thoughts do linger on as energy and will be sensed by those who are sensitive. Some of these clouds are the results of rage or other negative forces and they are always uncomfortable to those who can sense their presence. Thinking too much about all kinds of vibes and hauntings can also make us afraid of the dark and even terrified. Theories of Christ Important When you feel fear about something that you sense but can’t see, you should recite the prayer “Our Father, Thou art in Heaven…” and ask the good Lord for protection and if He could spare to send some angels your way since they are always there for us humans and ready to protect us from all that is negative and evil. As I said before sweetie, your fear of the dark doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with dead people. I would wear a cross around my neck and remind myself that if one is positive and trusts in God all will be well in the end. We should ask for a holy communion with Christ (our just God if you’re not a Christian) and enhance our understanding of his theories and bide by them to become a part of his flock. If one does this there is absolutely no reason to fear anything evil that might come your way, as it cannot break through the walls of protection created by the belief in God. There is Life After Death About your question concerning whether or not I belief in life after death my respond is this: yes. I am absolutely certain that we do live on after death. We are made of matter and spirit. The matter decays and dies. Old age, accidents or diseases can all contribute to the malfunction of the body so it becomes inoperatable and gives up. Your spirit that contains your soul can’t die because it is made of energy, which is not material, but of another kind and submits to other laws then the laws of nature or physics. Spiritual energy does not waste away and if the soul is in the spirit then the mind is also there and in the mind is the personality and all of these things can easily function outside the body. Because of this knowledge I am completely sure that we do have a life after our bodies give up. Jesus Christ also said as you might know: Those who believe in me will never die”, this I firmly belief. He also said: “There are many rooms in my fathers house”. When we leave the body we enter one of those “rooms”. These lodgings are in fact the kingdom of God or Heaven and there recites the spirit. Rooms of the Badly Developed Souls You ask me about the destination of those who are obviously evil. The laws of Heaven are not the same as the laws of humans. Here on earth anybody, no matter how evil that person is, can mislead others, sometimes for long periods of time. People might believe that person is quite charming and even kind although the corrupt individual is spreading his or her bad influence all over the place without being noticed. Many people have been able to hide their negative activities and even hurt other people. A bad or a negative individual has many possibilities to give life to evil on earth. Money, titles, social status and other things can act as a convenient disguise for mischief. When we depart our bodies we have no longer any means of camouflaging our true inner self. We are then in the new situation where our thoughts are alive and visible to others on our level or to earthly people who are psychic. It is natural to assume that birds of the same feather flock together. When our bodies die the radiance of our souls and the thoughts of our minds are an open book. We can no longer hide our inner core. We can also not thrive except in communion with others who are like us. If we are negative (or evil if you will) we stay in a “room” or spiritual level with others like us until we ourselves choose to change our mental disposition and seek support to follow the road of remorse and enhanced maturity. The Darkness of Ignorance and Immaturity In the kingdom of God we can receive help if we seek it. But we do have to ask for it and work for it by changing our attitude and be sincere about our remorse. And repentance. If we are negative in our lives on earth, that will not change by our deaths unless we make an effort to change ourselves. We survive the material death and in our spiritual mind lies our willpower so we still have that. That is why we must use our willpower on the other side to ask for help in the darkness of ignorance and immaturity. When Christ spoke of the many rooms in his father’s house he most likely ment that we can’t all of us start at the place which possesses the strongest light in Heaven. It would probably be simply too much for some of us. So it really is true that with our behaviour and actions in the earthly life we are choosing our home in the afterlife. I’m not talking about punishment. I’m talking about that we all have a free will and we can use it to enhance the good or the evil in our own souls. Nobody chooses that for us. We do it ourselves. That’s why I do not belief in Hell, only various and different rooms that we are categorised into immediately after our deaths all depending on our way of life before. There is no punishment except the horrible fate of choosing yourself to live your life badly. God Reprimands but Does Not Punish It is no problem to be positive when everything is going great but it gets more difficult when things aren’t looking so great. Only at times of troubles are our inner resources tested. Because God loves all of us equally he gave all of us our free will and our own individual qualities when He created us in his (spiritual) image. This means that if we choose to deform all that is godly in ourselves then we have nothing in common with those who choose to expand the good and godly in themselves. The choice is ours, be it on earth or on the other side. God is the ultimate love in life. He does not practise punishments on his children. He tolerates but reprimands too. He put us in this situation to choose for ourselves. Even though our situation in life is often beyond our control and sometimes awful, that does not mean that we necessarily need to become evil and wicked people causing pain wherever we go. Hopefully I have managed to answer some of your questions in a manner that is useful to you. There’s no question that you have a psychic gift. Or like the psychic kid once said amongst his friends: “Listen guys, of course I’m excited about this.
